Kolkata is a traditional city and is the capital of west Bengal, which is considered to be the largest city with high population after Mumbai. Kolkata is considered to be the cultural city with traditional values. It is proud of being city of Rabindranath Tagore, the national poet, film producers and Nobel Prize winners.

By Plane

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport is located 20 km away from the city. It connect Kolkata with the countries of south east Asia and receives all the international flights from different continents such as Europe and Australia .it is still an old fashioned airport as it was built in 1960s and expected to be updated before 2011.The domestic Airport in Calcutta is considered to be the best and better as compared with international one. Facilities of prepaid taxis are available at airport for the city center for which atleast Rs 250-300 need to be spent.

By Train

Kolkata is very well connected with all the important cities and towns of India through railways and also considered to be the gateway of northeast India. It has broad gauge as well as meter gauge railway line. There are many trains, which ply for Kolkata from various parts of the country. The Sealdah station is used by most of the trains to enter Kolkata, as the main station of Kolkata operates very less number of trains as it is under construction.

Prepaid taxis are available at Sealdah railway station at prepaid taxi station, which is just located outside the railway station, which are helpful for tourists to enter Kolkata city.

By Bus

Esplanade Bus Station is considered to be the main bus station in Kolkata from where all the inter-city and inter-state bus operates. Kolkata has a very network of roadways with its neighbouring states especially with Bihar, Orissa and other Northeast States. It also have fine network of bus services within West Bengal.
